Don’t Tell Him It’s Quiche, Call it Egg Pie.

IMG_5029

In 1982, a book called Real Men Don’t Eat Quiche was published. Even though it was a satrical look at the middle class of the 80’s, it has made a lasting impression on male eating habits.

I have a friend that told me he would not eat Quiche. So, I invited him over and told him we were having Egg Pie. I can’t remember what I put in it, but he ate his serving and asked for more.

Apparently, Real Mean Do Eat Egg Pie.

As I stated before that I don’t remember what I put in it… and it’s the truth. This is a recipe that once you learn the basic ratio of things, you can make it without thinking too much.

I use Egg Pie as a vehicle to use up bits and pieces of stuff in my fridge.

Sometimes, it’s more Italian, sometimes traditional Alsatian, sometimes New Mexican… Heck, I’ve even gone a American with a couple slices chopped up of bacon and hamburger and diced onions.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Egg Pie

5 eggs beaten

3 cups of cheese

1/2 cup milk

Salt, Pepper & Seasonings

Other Stuff

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Let’s talk about the eggs. Easy. Just Eggs. 5 of them.

Now cheese. I’ve used all sorts. I’ve mixed up anything from Cheddar to Manchego. I use those little bits that are left in the cheese drawer. Last one I made had a couple of slices of swiss and provolone diced up, Manchego, Cheddar and Parmesan.

Milk. This doesn’t have to be straight milk. I’ve used 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup heavy cream. Also, 1/2 cup water and 3 tablespoons sour cream. As long as it equals about a 1/2 cup you are golden.

Salt, Pepper & Seasonings. This is to taste. If I’m making a Green Chile Cheese Egg Pie, I throw a few dashes of Green Tabasco Sauce in the mix. If it leans more Italian… oregano and/or basil.

Other Stuff. We’ve come to the fun part. See what’s in your fridge.

Here are some possible ideas for you to think about:

Bacon and Spinach and Onion

Green Chile and Cheese

Broccoli and Sun Dried Tomatoes

Caramelized Onions and Red Pepper

Tomato and Mushroom

Onions and Hamburger

Sauteed Zuchinni

Pepperoni, Green Peppers and Onion

Sausage and Whatever

(You’ll notice that onions play a role in this recipe. Eggs and Onions are BFF’s in this dish. You can also add garlic. I’ve used powdered version of each in a pinch, don’t tell my Mother.

Another thing you’ll notice.. no crust. My clan and I just like it better that way. If you want a crust, you do you, boo.)

Sauté ingredients until soft-ish and fully cooked. Let mixture cool before adding them to the beaten eggs and cheese mix.Don’t forget to salt and pepper to taste. Add in herbs if desired. Grease a pie or casserole dish. I’m a fan of the spray can stuff. Pour the eggy goodness in the baking dish.

Put it in the oven. Depending on your altitude and size of dish… check it in 35 minutes. It could be done. I’ve had Egg Pies take up to an hour.

When it’s has light golden brown tan and doesn’t jiggle. Take it out. (Those are totally my goals for 2016, BTW.)

Let it chillax on a rack or the the top of the stove until you are ready to eat.

It you want to add hot sauce, balsamic vinegar or any other sauciness…. go nerd.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Stay Awesome,

Clare

BoxyCharm December 2015 Unboxing

Hello My Fellow Goo Horders!

Are you ready for some December BoxyCharm?

It was a good month!

FullSizeRender 76

This month’s theme was very Roaring ’20, Jazz Age, Art Deco. I love it. There are 5 items this month with a retail value of ****. The newer black box really lends itself very well to the theme.

FullSizeRender 72

Here’s an overview of all the items.

FullSizeRender 75

Let start with Nelson J’s of Beverly Hills Moisture Healing Mask. This smells like coconutt-y summer happiness. Feels silky to the touch. It’s thinner in consistency to most deep conditioner. Maybe this is what hair masks are like? I just don’t know. I need to try to let it sit on my hair to see more benefits. When I left it on like regular condition I didn’t see much change.

FullSizeRender 73Second item is NCLA Treatments So Rich Cuticle Oil. This makes your fingers and cuticles soft like a babies bottom. This scent is slightly warm and spicy. It reminds of a dear friend. I’m a fan of just using argan oil, so I gave this to my mom. She loves it.

FullSizeRender 79Something for the face. Tatcha Aburatorigami Japanese Beauty Papers. This are some fancy oil blotting papers. I haven’t need any oil subsiding products while I have been in Albuquerque, NM.) One of the many reasons I love visiting.) These will be my go to when I get back to Southern California, though. I’ve been wanting to try Tatcha products… Soooo badly.

FullSizeRender 74Now for the to lip products. First up is Ofra’s Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Americano. I adore Ofra’s formula for liquid lipsticks. I have several.  It’s soft and mousey.  It doesn’t create the that dry nasty ring that some do. I questioned this color for me. I was quite surprised. It dries a little less terra cotta on me than I thought I would. I wish I could get my hands on ALL of their shades. If you haven’t tried a liquid lipstick, this is the one to go for.

FullSizeRender 77Second lip item is BellaPierre’s Gel Lip Liner in Cinnamon. This matches the Ofra Liquid Lipstick. It’s like they knew!! This lip liner is smooooooove. It’s perfect for the brownish lip trend that is currently all the rage. I like this with Americano, a lot! I also like it alone or with a touch of gloss.

There you go! All of December BoxyCharm goodies! Tell me what your favorites were.

If you need some entertain meant GO HERE! It’s my YouTube Channel.

Thank for reading.

Stay Awesome,

Clare

Ipsy Unbagging December 2015

Hello Fellow Goo Horders!

Srsly! I can never get these up on time.

So, let’s get into it. The bag this month is  a red shiny, quilted and almost a half-moon shaped zippered bag. Cute, right?

FullSizeRender 50

This picture is showing up really pink, trust me it’s candy apple red.

FullSizeRender 45

I had über high hopes for this month’s bag, but enh. We just didn’t jive this month and that’s okay. As my Grandfather would say, “Somedays you bite the bear, others the bear bites you.” The bear bit me on this one.

FullSizeRender 46

Pacifica’s Power of Love Lipcolor- Oh, chocolate covered cherries! I wanted to LOVE this. The formula was a bit dry and the color was way not for me. I’m glad I tried it though. Now I know… and knowing is half the battle.

FullSizeRender 49

Klorane’s Eau Florale Demaquillante. I’m pretty sure this brought on some Hives of Unknown Orgin when I tried it. I have my Simple Micellar water and my equate Eyemake Remover. A product is going to have to truly wow me to earn their Holy Grail spot on my nightstand.

FullSizeRender 47

Model Co Illusion Lipliner. I couldn’t find a color name. This I like. It’s a nude creamy lip liner. It’s good. Can’t find anything else to say about it. It’s solidly good.

FullSizeRender 48

Elizabeth Mott’s Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer. It might be just me, but I haven’t been able to see much difference using an eye primer. I’ve tried 5 or so. This one feels good. Perhaps, they just do their job and I’m unappreciative.

FullSizeRender 43

Acure Cell Stimulating Facial Mask. I have to be honest…. I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m a fan of the brand. We’ve gotten Acure in our bags before and I liked their products. I’m sure this will be no different. It has that natural earthy clay scent to it. I’ll try it soon.

So there you go December’s Ipsy Bag.

I’m still a fan of Ipsy, I just didn’t dance well with all the products in the bag.

Until the next time….. Stay Awesome!

Let’s talk Hair: The Dessata

Hello My Fellow Goo Horders-

Not only do I lurve my some makeup goo and face goo, I lurve me hair tools.. too.

Y’know that feeling when you run a good brush or comb through your hair and it just glides..no pulling…no tugging…. you know what I’m talking’ about, right?!

At Cosmprof NA this year I found my newest brush love. There was a make your own beauty box there, I snagged one of these.

FullSizeRender 40

FullSizeRender 37

The Dessata.

It’s a detangling brush. You can use it on wet or dry hair. I find myself grabbing for this brush all the time. I’ve blow dried my hair with it. Used it straight out of the shower. I’ve used it to get an even coverage of hair dye, drawing the last of the color to the ends of my hair. Even use it to get all my hair covered when I use conditioning treatments. I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I left it home when I went to Albuquerque. I constantly tried to reach for it. And it was sitting on the counter at home waiting for me.

One of my favorite times to use it? Those 2nd day hair days when your hair has been in a messy bun/ponytail for hours and hours…. You can set it on your scalp and smoosh it around… and give yourself a little head massage. Ohhhhhhh! Sweet cheeses.

FullSizeRender 42FullSizeRender 41

It’s completely made of plastic. I’ve put it through it’s paces. It’s bounced around bathrooms, bedrooms, suitcases and hotels. Simon The WonderCat likes to batt it off the desk, tables and the dresser. It has stood up to almost four months of abuse. I see it standing up to almost anything I can throw at it. The plastic is nonporous so hair dye doesn’t change the color. It fits nicely in the hand. They have oodles of colors and prints, too.

The Boyfriend even loves it. He steals it all the time.

And these folks don’t know me from Eve, but I love their product.

Stay Awesome,

Clare
